DJ MARKET TALK: Singapore STI May Fall On Global Concerns - OCBC

0052 GMT [Dow Jones] Singapore's STI is set to open lower Thursday following Wednesday's slide on Wall Street after President Barack Obama's re-election raised concerns about the coming fiscal fight in Congress. "That's a given," says Carey Wong, an analyst at OCBC, referring to the possibility of the STI opening lower. He says that the 3000 level is still an important support but that's likely to be tested Thursday. Investors are worried about the "fiscal cliff" in the U.S., while Europe's situation doesn't appear anywhere close to being resolved. Investors are also looking at the National People's Congress in China that starts Thursday, he adds. Among individual shares, United Overseas Bank (U11.SG) may be in focus after reporting a 35.5% rise in third quarter net profit



DJ MARKET TALK: HSI Set To Fall; US Fiscal Cliff Grabs Attention

0041 GMT [Dow Jones] The HSI is set to open down sharply taking a cue from Wall Street, likely in the vicinity of 2.0% if judging from ADRs' performance. Post-U.S. election, "immediate attention will now be on the impending U.S. fiscal cliff and the U.S. debt borrowing limit," says UOB Research. Still, it adds that the re-election of Obama into his second term will "have a minimal impact on Asia." Blue chips' weakness is likely to be broad-based; Cnooc (0883.HK) is set to underperform given crude' big decline overnight, and high-beta Chalco (2600.HK) is also set to fall more than its blue-chip peers. Still, Hong Kong property stocks may find some support from news that Cheung Kong (0001.HK) and SHK Properties (0016.HK) won separate residential site tenders. The HSI rose 0.7% to 22,099.85 Tuesday
