DJ MARKET TALK: Singapore Shares May Rise, Test 3235-3270 Area - SIAS  

0043 GMT [Dow Jones] Singapore shares could push higher, tracking positive Wall Street leads, as investors digest optimistic developments in U.S. corporate earnings and congressional talks over the debt ceiling. The STI rose 0.5% to 3211.22 Friday. "A solid start to the quarterly U.S. earnings season coupled with the prospects of a temporary extension to the U.S. borrowing limit on Friday is likely to give STI index a boost this morning," SIAS Research says. The house tips the STI to test the 3235-3270 resistance area, with support at 3180-3200. Fraser & Neave (F99.SG) could be in focus after Thai tycoon Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi boosted his takeover offer for the company to S$9.55/share from S$8.88/share, forcing rival bidder Overseas Union Enterprise (LJ3.SG) to either table a better offer by 0800 GMT or back down.
